On May 4, 2017, God dispatched an Angel to summon the soul of his child, Mary Boyd Sykes, to that Heavenly home prepared for those who love and serve him to eternal rest and reward.

Mary was born October 10, 1938 in Spring Hope, North Carolina to Mary M. Hudson and Cornelius Lucas. She was united in Holy Matrimony to Herbert Sykes (deceased) and to this union daughter Blondena was born.

Mary served 20 years with the city of Jacksonville, Florida where she retired.

She loved her family and had a charm and personality that matched no other.  Mary was originally fellowshipped January of 1988 at St Joseph Missionary Baptist Church.  She later moved her membership to First A. B. Church in Kingsland, Georgia and restored her membership May 2001.

While being a faithful member of St. Joseph she found time to be  assistant to Church Secretary, Sunday School Teacher and a member of the Senior Women and also obtained her Master degree in Theology.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Sykes; brother, James Bullock.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her mother, Mary Hudson; daughter, Blondena S. Caswell; Brother, Richard Cornelius Lucas; grandson, her pride and joy, Herbert Edward Caswell, Michael Caswell and Lakisha Donatto; a daughter that will always be a part of the family, Yvette Ward; special Son Nathaniel Evans Jr.

Special friends, Patricia Hutchinson, Howard & Collette Carr, Hobby and Velma Hinnant, Cora Wilcox, Mary Jones; a host of in-laws, the Caswell, Shuman’s, Smith, Wilson and Floyd Family.
