Samuel Lee Wright, Sr.  was born on April 20, 1939 to the late Johnny and Alice Wright in Shaw, Mississippi.    He completed his school education in Shaw, Mississippi.

Upon accepting Christ as His Lord and Savior at an early age, he was baptized by Reverend H.C. Cherry and joined St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Shaw, MS and ironically upon relocating to Jacksonville, Florida, he joined St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church under Reverend E. E. Taylor, where he served faithfully.  Sam was a member of “Circle of Care” under Brother Dan Sapp and formerly served in Choir number 2.

Sam was a faithful student of God’s word and enjoyed passionate discussion of the scriptures where under Bishop Guns they are presently in the book of Genesis.  His passion was also with the Scouting Program.  The memories of his life will provide comfort to all who knew and loved him.

Sam was machinist at Rex Packaging Company for 48 years receiving Employee of the Year twice at the annual Crane Awards.  He retired in 2014.

Sam married the love of his life and leaves to cherish his memories, devoted wife of 44 years Cecil Louise (Wese) and this union was blessed with daughter Sabrina Louise Waters (Ramon) of Tallahassee, Florida and son Samuel Lee Wright, Jr. of Apopka, Florida.  He was a man of love, compassion, stamina, humor and leadership who truly loved and provided well for his family.

Sam was predeceased by his father, Johnny Wright, mother, Alice Smith Wright; brothers Johnny Wright Jr., Jessie Wright, Reverend Dr. Mathew Wright, Lawyer Wright; sisters Ruthie Caple, Laura Etta Wright, and Betty Jean Wright.

Sam is survived by one brother Nathaniel Wright, Chicago, Illinois; sisters Rose Love(Earl) Chicago, Illinois, Mary Rogers (James) Memphis Tennessee, Christine Spears (Dannie) Memphis, Tennessee, Ernestine Bridges (Richard) Flint, Michigan; Brother and Sister-in law Cleaman and Diana Williams Sicklerville, New Jersey; special friend/brother Eddie Lee Wright, Jacksonville, Florida.

Because of his special love for children, he will be greatly missed by Patricia Arrington, Alexander Showers, Pam Graham and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving relative and sorrowing friends.

On April 4, 2017 Samuel departed this earthly life and went on to be with his Heavenly Father.
